Different characteristics of the same material are recorded in the Material Characteristics tab. The Characteristic definitions facilitate material tracking and make the opening of cards in compliance with the characteristics specified in the Material Class (with Table) section. Characteristic definitions are recorded using the Material Characteristics option of the Material Management section. The Material Characteristics tab of the Material and Material Class is used to define the characteristics to be applied for the material or material class (with table) and their respective values.
The information recorded in the Material Characteristics tab:
Characteristic Code: The characteristic code of the material class. The Material Characteristics list is opened by clicking on "..." icon and the appropriate definition is selected.
Characteristic Description: The description of the material characteristic selected in the Characteristic Code field is directly displayed in this field. The Material Characteristics can also be listed and selected on this field.
Line/Column: This field is used to determine the location of the selected characteristic within the table.
Priority: Indicates the priority of the characteristic. The Material Characteristics tab of the Material Classes of the Material Class (with table) type is used to define the combinations of the characteristics. The table is generated according to the Line/Column and Priority values of the defined lines. The lines that have no values entered in the Priority field are assumed to have the lowest priority in priority definitions. In such cases, the characteristics are processed according to the order of lines.
Characteristic Value: This field is used to define the Characteristic Value to be applied for the material. The defined Characteristic Values are listed and the relevant value is selected.
