The Material Class Assignments option is used to record the connections between the Child Material classes under the Material Class and the materials. Characteristics such as Unit Set, Customer/Supplier info and General Ledger Codes can be applied to the child material classes or the materials connected to this material class. In such cases, the same characteristics are transferred into the child material classes and/or materials by creating Material Class Assignments.

Characteristics can be transferred into the Material Class (General or With table) Materials of which the Record Type is Commercial Good, Deposited Item, Semi Finished Good, Raw Material, Finished Good or Consumer Good using the Material Class Assignments option.
The Material Class Assignments option cannot be used to transfer characteristics to the Fixed asset and Mixed Case type Materials.

Only the characteristics of the Material Class (General) records can be transferred into the Material Class (With table) material classes.

When the Material Class Assignments of the Material Class (General) materials are generated, the Material Class (With table) records cannot be selected as the parent material class.

The Material Class Assignments are done for the selected material (class) in the Material Classes list. In order to generate the Material Class Assignments, the Material Class to which the characteristics will be transferred must be selected in the Material Classes list. Then the Material Class Assignments located in the right mouse button menu is selected. The Material Class Assignments page is in form of a table.

The code of the parent material class from which the characteristics will be transferred is entered into the Material Class Code field. The characteristics for which Material Class Assignments will be generated are grouped under the following titles:

  • General
  • Warehouse Parameters
  • Plant Parameters
  • Units
  • Prices
  • Suppliers
  • G/L Codes
  • Inspection Criteria Description
  • Bill of Materials Relation
  • Production Info

The parent class and the characteristics to be transferred for the selected material class are selected by checking the appropriate boxes in the Material Class Assignments table.

General: This option is used to define the class connection for the Usage Point, Tracking Method and Location Tracking information. The general information of the selected parent material class is transferred into the General Info tab of the Material Class for which the class connection is defined.

Warehouse Parameters: This option is used to define the class connections for the Warehouse Information (Minimum, Maximum and Safety inventory levels, Location and the level control method during transactions). The warehouse information of the selected parent material class is transferred into the Warehouse Parameters tab of the Material Class for which the class connection is defined.

Plant Parameters: This option is used to define class connections for Plant Parameters. The plant parameters of the selected parent material class are transferred into the Plant Parameters tab of the Material Class for which the class connection is defined.

Units: This option is used to define class connections for unit set and unit information. The unit sets and unit information of the selected parent material class is transferred into the Units tab of the Material Class for which the class connection is defined.

Prices: This option is used to define class connections purchase and sales prices. The Purchase Price and Sales Price information of the selected parent material class is transferred into Material Class for which the class connection is defined.

Suppliers: This option is used to define Customer/Supplier information class connections. The Customer/Supplier information of the selected parent material class is transferred into the Customers/Suppliers tab of the Material Class for which the class connection is defined.

G/L Codes: This option is used to record the General Ledger Codes class connections. The General ledger and Overhead Pool Codes of the selected parent material class is transferred into the G/L accounts tab of the Material Class for which the class connection is defined.

Inspection Criteria Description: This option is used to define class connections for Inspection Criteria. The Inspection information of the selected parent material class is transferred into the Material Class for which the class connection is defined.

Bill of Materials Relation: This option is used to generate a Bill of Materials Relation to define the bill of material to be used in material production according to time requirement. The bill of material which is used to calculate minimum/maximum material quantity to be produced and calculate the standard cost for the plant for Material Classes (General or with table) is recorded in the Bill of Materials Relation tab of the Material record. The Bill of Materials Relation is only available for Finished Good materials.
