Resources, which will be used to realize the activity and personnel, who will be working in the process, are saved with Resources option located under Attached Records menu in Project Activity window.
The following information is saved in Resources window:

Resource Type

The type of resource that is required for the activity is selected. The options are:

  • Asset
  • Asset Part
  • Employee
  • Outsourced Asset
  • Outsourced Employee
  • Temporary Asset
  • Temporary Employee

Asset Category

Asset category is specified for the resources of Asset and Asset Part types. The options are:

  • Real Estate
  • Transport Vehicle
  • Equipment

Code / Registration No

The code of asset / asset type or personnel that is selected in Resource Type field. Browse (...) button opens the relevant browser where you can select the record that will be used as a resource. When Resource Type is Employee, Employees browser lists only the records which are designated as Project Resource in Work Info tab of the employee cards.

Description / Name - Surname

The description of the resource that is selected in Code field is transferred to this field. You can also list the relevant definitions and select a resource from Description field.

Costing

I t determines if the relevant resource's cost will affect project costs. If so, this box is checked.

Determinant of Planning

If the resource that is selected in line is a determinant of planning, this box is checked. This option indicates that the relevant employee's working hours serve as a determinant of planning when scheduling the activity. Availability of employees/resources, which is a determinant of planning, is identified and the intersection set of available times is found. Employees/resources, which are not classified as a determinant of planning, work in their own available period according to this intersection set.





Resource Usages

Planned and actual resource usages that are generated on resource basis in Resources window are listed in Resource Usages window. Resource usage records are updated after each planning.
When calculating resource usages, shifts and shift exception hours of the relevant resource are taken into consideration. If you do not want shift exception hours to be considered in calculation, you must set System Settings module > Project Management parameter > "Consider Shift Exceptions in Planned Resource Usage Records That Are Generated Automatically" parameter to No option. Otherwise, a separate line is kept for shift exceptions as well.
While generating extra working lines for shift exceptions that are specified with a date range, it generates records on daily basis. Resource usage records are generated by using start and end hours for each day within the specified date range.

Example:
Shift that is defined for resource: Saturday and Sunday excluded
Working hours between 09:00-12:00
Break 12:00 – 13:00
Working hours between 13:00 – 18:00
Shift exceptions incurring due to resource: 06.01.2014 – 14.01.2014 Working hours between 08:00 – 09:00
09.01.2014 – 14.01.2014 Working hours between 18:00 – 20:00

If there is planned / actual extra working time assigned for resources apart from the shift hours, Extra Working Time box is checked. When calculating resource costs, planned and actual resource usage durations are taken into consideration.
Below are the priorities on which calendar and shift controls are based if resource has no specific calendar during calculation of planned and actual resource usages.

  • Resource calendar / shift
  • If not, activity calendar / shift
  • If not, project calendar / shift
  • If not, project's organizational unit calendar / shift
  • If not, company calendar / shift
