Group codes are used to track materials/services by type and characteristics using independent grouping methods.
The Material/Service Group Codes menu option is located under the Material Management module > Definitions menu. Group codes allow material/service transactions, purchase and sales totals to be reported in detail. Sales targets can be specified by the material/service group.
Material/service groups are defined using the “New” option on the Material/Service Group Codes list. The following information is recorded on the definition window.
| Code | The code of the group definition. The Code field is mandatory. |

| Description | The name or description of the material/service group code. |
The group that the material/service is related to is specified on the group codes field of material/service definitions. The defined group codes are listed on the Group Code field and the appropriate option is selected. The group code can be used as a filter in reports.
