The input and output quantities of the products within the BOM are automatically calculated using the information entered into the Formula field. Parameters defined in the system are used in formulas in addition to arithmetical and logical operators. Specific constants such as temperature and dilation factor defined for the company can also be used while generating the formulas.

Constants to be used in production quantity calculations are defined using Production Constants option located in the Main Records menu of the Production Definitions section. Data fields displayed when "New" button is clicked on the Company Production Constants window and their functions are:

Code: The code of the company production constant. Company production constant codes always start with C_. The +, -, *, and / symbols cannot be used in code definitions.

Description: The name or the description of the company production constant.

Cluster Code: Indicates the cluster of the production constant. Since production constants can be grouped under specific clusters, the same company constants can be grouped under separate clusters. Production constants with different cluster codes can be selected in batch in bills of materials.

Default: The default value of the company production constant. The default value entered here can be changed from the bill of materials.

The defined production constants are accessed through the BOM Constants menu option located in the right mouse button menu of the bill of materials window. Constants to be used in the formula definitions of the bill of materials are specified using the following options located in the right mouse button menu of the BOM constants window:

  • Select Company Production Constant
  • Select Company Production Constant Cluster

When "Select Production Constant Cluster" is selected, production constant clusters are listed, and the appropriate cluster is selected. In this way, constants included in the selected cluster are transferred into the BOM, and displayed on the Quantity Formula field.
