The General Ledger is the section where

  • main and second charts of accounts are defined
  • G/L transactions are performed
  • financial statements are generated
  • G/L Connection codes are defined, and
  • transactions performed in other application sections are posted to G/L.

Definitions are used to record necessary definitions for general ledger.

The Transactions menu is used to record transactions performed within the general ledger module through slips by obtaining information from the definitions in this section. 

The options of the Operations menu are used to perform periodic transactions required by the system.

The options of the Reports menu are used to report definitions and transactions recorded in the General Ledger section.


Parameters and Defaults Affecting General Ledger

General Ledger parameters and defaults are used to specify general ledger management parameters. General ledger parameters are used to record certain G/L transaction characteristics, controls to be applied and control methods. General Ledger Defaults and Parameters option is located in System Settings module > Defaults and Parameters > General > Default Values and Parameters > General Ledger window.
