Characteristic Code

The characteristic code of the asset. The browse (…) button opens the Asset Characteristics list where you can select from the existing characteristic definitions.

Characteristic Description

The characteristic description. When you select the Characteristic Code, the description is filled automatically. However, you can also select the characteristic from Description field.

You enter the values that will apply to the selected characteristic in Value and Value Description fields.

Characteristic values vary depending on the value type specified in the characteristic definition. Such as;

• If the value type of the asset characteristic is numeric, you must enter a numeric value in Value field.
• If the value type of the asset characteristic is text, you must enter a text value in Value field.
• If the value type of the asset characteristic is date/time, you must enter a date/time value in Value field.
• If the value type of the asset characteristic is list, you will access Asset Characteristic Value window where you can find the values defined for the characteristic. Select the requested value in this window.
  
  The value description field is used to record descriptions for characteristic values of numeric, text and date/time types. If the characteristic value is list, the description of the selected characteristic value is displayed on the field and cannot be changed.
