Preparation steps for a successful MRP usage are a little different from the steps described in MPS usage. Some of these steps are obligatory, while some of them are arbitrary.
- If the material will be used in Material Requirement Planning (MRP) transactions, the Material Requirement Planning option has to be selected as planning method in plant parameters of the material.
- Lot sizing method has to be specified in plant parameters of the material as well.
- As in MPS, in order to calculate the producing or purchasing materials lead times, the materials have to own BOM definitions or supplier relations.
- At the beginning of the MRP, a main production schedule has to be selected to be used as main plan. Planned plant, date range and calculation options will be come from this plan information.
